It began when Jim Powers of Chicago's Minty Fresh Records approached Ralph Covert, then teaching Powers' child in the Old Town School's Wiggleworms music program, about the state of affairs in children's music.  Covert was taking a fresh approach (and writing original songs) with his classes, to keep things interesting for the kids, parents and himself.  Powers, who'd surveyed the children's scene around town with his 2-year-old son, and found something lacking. The two decided that the time was right to record an album of Ralph's original kids music, which eventually became known as "Ralph's World."

Recorded at Chicago's Gravity Studios, this disc contains 18 songs, including 12 originals, and some inspired choices for cover songs. Ralph pays infectious tribute to KC and the Sunshine Band in "Take a Little Nap (The Disco Song)" and is joined by his father on, "Ragtime Cowboy Joe," (a song they both knew growing up from listening to The Sons Of The Pioneers). Standout originals include "Seven Monkeys," "Drivin' In My Car" and "Tickle a Tiger."

The supporting cast of musicians include such luminaries as Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Kurt Elling, bassist Pickles Piekarski (Bad Examples, John Prine), harmonica player Corky Siegel (Siegel-Schwall Blues Band), and drummer Matt Walker (Smashing Pumpkins, Filter).
